You thought a long weekend would put an end to this Greek-standoff stuff? Think again.

Talks between Greece and eurozone finance ministers on Monday night lasted barely two hours, according to some reports. Sticking to his guns, Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said his country wants a deal, but with concessions. He also said negotiators don't have "the right to play games with the future of Europe," and that a halfway meeting point may emerge during the next couple of days.

We'll see. Let's just hope he doesn't get his Burberry scarf caught on the door handle before the proverbial car goes off the cliff.

Monday Recap – 2/2/15

The market looked poised to start the week off on a positive note, but early morning sellers took over after the opening bell.  The $SPY briefly dipped under $198 and traded under $200 for most of the session before a late day surge sent the $SPY to $202.   I don't think a chart accurately conveys the volatility we saw in the market today, with prices falling dramatically before rallying sharply.

It’s All Swiss To Me

It's hard to believe only a week's time has transpired since the markets opened for trade on Monday.  Speaking of Monday, the markets are closed this Monday, what better time to start doing all those things you promised yourself you would do in 2015.

This is perhaps the most exciting week we've had in the markets since the announcement that Tim Giethner was going to run the Treasury and oh boy was that ever exciting.  There is no better way to maximize the affect of asset price moving events than to announce them on the day when every option and futures contract on the planet is set to expire. (cue the sarcastic grunt here)
